The Alexander Technique is more and more being integrated into the training of performing artists all over the world.
A group of highly experienced Alexander teachers who have been working in this field for many years, in private practice, international workshops and major institutes of the performing arts*, have come together to form the Performing Self, a collaborative project through which we aim to pass on our knowledge and skills to Alexander teachers who want to work with performing artists.
As individuals we have experience in all aspects of performance (see About Us) as a group we have been developing continuing professional development courses for the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) since 2012; in collaboration with Rose Bruford College we have developed a Masters programme which will include placements at London colleges of the performing arts in which students can study and teach alongside our project teachers.
We are also interested to form links with professionals from other disciplines who support self-development in the performing arts.
Bespoke onsite intensive courses can be arraged for orchestras, theatre companies, choirs, dance companies etc.
We can also advise performing arts institutes and schools, and other educational establishments who want to offer Alexander Technique to their students.
Most people are prisoners, thinking only about the future or living in the past. They are not in the present, and the present is where everything begins."
